Every build, every year.
Eleven cars across two decades. Prototypes that started on petrol and grew into battery-electric Urban Concepts. The catalogue below is the full lineage — from the first build in 2008 to the current one in the workshop.
Our Journey
In chronological order, from the first build in 2008 to the current one in the workshop. Build details are being verified and will be filled in as records are confirmed.
BLACK COFFIN
India's first student-built super-mileage prototype — a 55 kg shell wrapped around a 97cc, 2 HP generator engine. Clocked 180 km/L and brought home the 'Most Persevering Team' award at the team's international debut at Shell Eco-marathon UK 2009.
GARUDA 2009
GARUDA 2010
GARUDA X1
GARUDA 2013
PHOENIX
AGNI
VAJRA
The pivot from internal combustion to battery electric. 120 kg overall, with an aluminium base and a carbon-fibre superstructure. A bi-free wheel differential saves energy while cruising. Project Garuda became the only Indian team to enter the Battery Electric UrbanConcept category at Shell Eco-marathon 2017 — Vajra carried that forward.
MJOLNIR
Built on Vajra's electric foundation. Refined powertrain and aerodynamics push the team's mileage to over 400 km/L equivalent at Shell Eco-marathon Asia.
GARUDA 2023
GAJA
The current build is in active development. Specifications and competition details to be announced.
